We love finding treasure and sometimes it is the rusty gold type of treasure. Coal Creek Community Park is Korumburra’s historical heartland. The space is all about preserving the history of this coal mining town, and a safe place for some beautiful old buildings to stay preserved and enjoyed by visitors from far and wide.
Mamma and the crew love the old corner store, the sleepy old train carriages as well as the workshops and sheds full of historical gems. The favourite, however, is the cobbler, with the leather stretched out on the wall with the shoe patterns all laid out ready to go. You can go in and explore many of the buildings, plus there are volunteers manning some of the shops so you can ask questions - because kids will always have questions.
Entry to the park is free, but remember to buy a bag of duck food from the front museum as you arrive so you can feed the birds in the pond half way down.
Mamma's special mentions: Korumburra is a lovely little town in South Gippsland. For somewhere to eat, you can’t pass up The Borough Dept. Store.
