museum of australian photography, wheelers hill

The Museum of AustralianPhotography in Wheelers Hill is a fantastic and FREE experience to take the kids to. Even better? On Thursday mornings during the term they hold MAPh Mini Makers - free kids craft sessions inspired by whatever exhibitions they have on at the time.

The fun extends outdoors as well as the museum sits on the greater Monash Gallery Reserve where sculptures by local artists are nestled amongst the native flora as if they have always been there.

And when those little tummies start to rumble, the onsite cafe is filled with sandwiches, handmade baked goods and sweet treats so take a seat, enjoy a coffee and settle into the light and bright surroundings.

Once you’re done at the museum why not visit the Wheelers Hill library which is right next door or explore the greater reserve which also is home to a picturesque lake and duckies!

With school holiday workshops on offer as well (some complimentary and some at an additional charge) this is a wonderful way to get kids interested and involved in the art of photography and other mediums.
