Being locked in a room with the people you love sounds like the beginning of a horror story … except it is the most fun you can have with your big kids. Welcome to Escape Artist in Hawthorn. This escape room facility has three different themed rooms to choose from and is perfect for that teen and in-between age group. There is a scary medical themed one (you’ll need to have a brave bunch and an adult in that one) and a tricky pharaoh room with the mummies. With a 9 and 12 year old we thought it safer to start with the less difficult - but still challenging - Dragon’s Dungeon.
Inside we were faced with the task of defeating a dragon alongside a cast of mythical warriors. There are codes to crack, doors to unlock and mysteries to solve before unleashing the beast and escaping to freedom. Mamma’s kiddos loved looking for clues in every corner and using their skills of observation to get from one puzzle piece to the next.
Escape Artistz escape rooms are a brilliant experience for the whole family. You have to put your heads together to solve all of the challenges and if you do get stuck, there is help at the other end of the walkie talkie for clues! Yes, we needed a couple.
