dinofest, wantirna south

Calling all junior palaeontologists and dino-obsessed kids! Dinofest has officially stomped into Nortons Park, and it’s prehistorically perfect for a fun family day out.

The main show kicks things off with a bang (or should we say roar?), as families gather safely behind a rope line while a ranger introduces a wild parade of dinosaurs. From snuggly baby dinos to massive, stomping giants, each one wanders past the crowd for pats, pics, and plenty of excited gasps. And don’t worry - there’s enough space that every little dino fan will get a front row view - just watch out for those snappy jaws!

Once the show’s over, the adventure continues down the Dino Trail, where life-sized dinosaurs lurk in the bushes. Stick your head in a giant Allosaurus mouth, hear the mighty roars throughout the park, and crack out of a dino egg. There are plenty of photo ops and loads of hands-on fun along the way. Little explorers can unearth some skeletal surprises at the fossil dig, have a craft moment and reveal dinosaurs using crayon rubbings, and touch some seriously cool replica artefacts like T-Rex teeth, raptor claws, and prehistoric eggs. After all that, don’t forget to score a temporary tattoo and revel in that sweet dino street cred.

Feeling bitey? There’s a food truck, coffee, and ice cream van on site, and BYO picnics are welcomed. Hot tip: bring a rug either way, seating is limited so grass will be your perfect prehistoric perch.

So RAWR you ready? This one’s not to be missed!
