One of the most frequently asked questions we get at Mamma Knows is “where is a great park for a party”. Well it is about time to share with everyone Mamma’s eastie tips for a group gathering. All of these picks have some key winning factors for a get together - picnic tables for cake, something for all ages, bbqs for some snags and - probably the most important feature - toilets!
Marie Wallace Playground in Bayswater is a game-changer of a park. Mamma can hardly believe how many magical spaces there are for little ones. It’s the type of park you can stay at for hours on end!
Wally Tew Reserve is still a firm favourite with local families, and it’s easy to see why.
The flying fox continues to steal the show, with kids racing back up the hill for “just one more go” (and then five more after that). The slides are fast and fun, perfect for slightly older adventurers who love to climb high and zip down fast.
This park is a staple of the Maroondah community and the Ringwood Lake park has had so many picnics and BBQs that everyone has been to at least one. Slides, sand, swings and sensory play!

McAlpine Park is a beautiful spot to spend the afternoon with the family for a play in the playground, waddle around with the ducks and cut laps on the bikes and scooters. Beckett Park is set in the most beautiful of leafy suburbs with a tower ready for a knight to climb and rescue his princess.

Queens Park is loved by so many and this brand new playground upgrade has already been so well received already. The equipment has been designed to work with the existing trees and in autumn, the place simply glows!
Attention kids of Boroondara! The highly anticipated Ferndale Park is NOW OPEN. This is a brilliant upgrade to the local playground and now has a resident ogre that is watching over all the action.
Mamma LOVED this classic community playground before the upgrade, but now it is EVEN BETTER! The Cardinia Community Playground is based on a classic wooden framed play space with heaps of twists and turns and things to climb over.
The Box Hill Gardens is an incredibly beautiful public space and with the addition of this fancy new playspace, it is certainly the place to be. There are flying foxes, tonnes of things to climb, shiny musical drums, an inbuilt trampoline and spinny things galore
Montrose Community Playground has to be one of the most delightful community places Mamma has ever visited. This huge park has three distinct sections and caters for all ages. There is the 'big kid' area with great big climbing structures, slides and swings.
It is always special to bring your little ones to the places you spent your childhood growing up. Halliday Park (or holiday park if you lived in our house) is one of those special places, only difference is, now its even better.
