u pick sunflowers @ girasole yarra valley, wandin east

What says summer more than a field of glorious sunflowers?!

Girasole (Italian for sunflower) Yarra Valley is open for U-Pick experiences from approximately mid February to mid March (weather dependent). Grab the kids, find the secateurs and pack your phone or camera, for a wonderful little family experience.

There are literally hundreds of stems of these GIANT flowers at the farm and you are welcome to wander the rows, throw down a rug for a picnic and cut your own stems, which you pay for at the exit. They are available to purchase individually or as a bunch - just be sure to BYO bucket so that you have a way to safely transport them home.

Sunflower season is unfairly short so be sure to head to their website to book in ASAP!

Some helpful tips - if you don’t have secateurs in the shed, you can hire a pair. there Wear closed toe shoes that are okay to wear through the rich volcanic soil. Bring a hat and plenty of sunscreen. The flowers are growing so well here because the sun is so good, which means it can be H.O.T! Parking onsite is great. Follow the signs at the entry to drive onto the back paddock. Please keep in mind that this is a working farm with uneven terrain (that can be muddy if there has been recent rain) as well as bees and ladybugs who enjoy the sunflowers as much as we do!
