sun cinema, bright

This single screen cinema is everything you want in a regional movie theatre. Sun Cinema in Bright is warm, cosy and reminiscent of what a trip to the movies used to be and as an ageing millennial this Mamma almost felt a romanticism around the whole experience.

Old school boxes of freshly popped popcorn, little lolly bags at the counter and, for the grownups, wine and beer. The 62 seat cinema is small and intimate for that “boutique” feel without seeming pretentious (though that could have to do with the fact that Mamma has only ever seen kids movies here).

With modern touches introduced over the years like an online booking function, this place is still inherently old school. Grab a printed film schedule from the dispenser out front to find out what movies are playing… and if you’ve booked online don’t forget to head to the box office to pick up your tickets that have been printed out and waiting for you!

Mamma’s Special Mention:
The kids can let off some steam at Howitt Park Playground which sits behind the cinema.
