farm world @ lardner park, drouin

Do you have a little one in your life who loves animals and machines? Then Mamma’s found the perfect spot for you!

Farm World at Lardner Park in Drouin is an annual farm show celebrating the best of the region’s agriculture. For nearly 60 years it has been the premier regional agricultural field day, with up to 100 acres of exhibitor displays ranging from machinery, livestock, plants, technology and must-have tools. And there is SO much for young kids to experience and enjoy throughout this 3-day show.

The absolute highlights for Mamma’s two include:

  • The Tractor Trailer Reversing Competition where tractor experts compete to see who can most accurately back a trailer (this one captivated Mamma’s two);

  • Battle of the Buckets where digger experts compete using different excavator attachments to stack, build and knock over objects;

  • Freestyle Kings Motocross where these professional drivers perform stunts and tricks that leave kiddos absolutely gob-smacked;

  • Dog Trials where experienced dog trainers demonstrate how working dogs manage a flock of sheep;

  • Animal Displays where visitors are allowed to pat and feed various cows and alpacas (Mamma’s two loved snuggling the 3-day old alpaca inside the shed);

  • The Black Snake Productions Wildlife Display where Mamma’s two learned about and got to pat all sorts of weird and wonderful native Australian animals;

  • Camel Rides where brave adventurers can climb aboard these wonderful beasts and tour the showgrounds from the camel’s back.

And SO much more!

The show culminates in a Rodeo on the Saturday evening which is always a highly anticipated event. And in between the many displays and events are various stalls showcasing Australia’s favourite brands, including Bulla (hello Choc Tops!), Bega and Mainland Dairy.

Stallholders have plenty of little freebies to keep kiddos entertained, from balloons, to lolly bags, to hi-vis vests, leaving your would-be farmer happy and decked out for their next trip to the showgrounds.

This once-a-year event is a truly captivating way to spend time with your budding agriculturalist, Mamma says it’s the perfect combination of fun and learning!
