BMX buddies - let’s cheer for the new Coldstream Pump Track. This spot opened late in 2022 and had been a hit with the locals. You can ride or scoot or even skate (oh i’d love to see that) on the purpose built, asphalted track which has bumps and turns and jumps and corners.
There is a guide showing the beginners section - a nice oval loop with consistent rollers that are on the smaller side. It’s a great warm up before they hit the intermediate zone which takes the kids on almost all sections of the track. Once the kids are confident (and probably much bigger than Mamma’s five year old) they can tackle the course with speed and collect some air in the process.
When we visited there were some nerves from the sidelines, especially on the first laps or two, but once Mamma relaxed a little, it is wonderful to watch the riders develop their confidence as they navigate the track.
We had some help from the bigger kids as they watched the little ones and adjusted their lines accordingly, taking turns when needed and supporting one another. There are a few spills along the way (naturally) but a quick pat on the back and some help untangling - everyone is set for a fun session at the pump track.
