casuarina forest play space, healesville sanctuary

Need a break from all those animals or just a spot to grab a coffee and watch the kids play? Healesville have thought of us all and are super keen for the kids to get into nature and not just watch it from behind the glass.

The latest nature play zone - The Casuarina Forest play space - is found in the central area of the Sanctuary. In between The World of the Platypus and the Reptile Pavilion (where the small playground used to be). This is a play space that celebrates the natural elements.

There’s a forest walk leading to some cute shady cubby houses. Then there is stacks of room to dig and build in the enormous sandpit which also includes a raised and accessible trough for wheelchair access. Lastly, running through the centre space is a water play creek zone with two water pumps. All of this space for fun and learning is under the watchful eye of two Corroboree Frogs.

Mamma's special mention: If your after a spot of indoor play, head up further to Future Vets at the Wildlife Health Centre.
