star hotel, yackandandah

Mamma has got stars in her eyes for this place! The Star Hotel is THE place to be in the sweetest of all towns - Yackandandah.

You will find the pub at the top of the Main Street and it runs alongside the town gardens. This means the kids have a place to explore or run around while the are awaiting their feast. You can sit inside at the main dining room or enjoy a balmy evening along the road or park.

Now be prepared when heading here for dinner - prepare for a FEAST. The Star Hotel run an amazing BBQ style menu with classic American style sticky goodness. We had to give every protein a whirl - the saucy chicken wings, the finger licking pork ribs and the absolute showstopper, the brisket burnt ends. All three are delicious. Food comes in these BBQ trays and you just add whatever sides you want to your order.

Yak is a really pretty town and very easy to explore as there is only one main road. Check out the antique shops, the old museum and the delicious pies on offer from Gum Tree Pies. It can be a sleepy town too, so be sure to get there in the early arvo or the shops could be all shut. You’ll find Yackandandah about 20 minutes to the north-east of Beechworth and worth a visit while exploring High Country.
