petit peace coffee shokudo, balwyn
/Mamma has found the sweetest little Japanese cafe in Balwyn. With a great courtyard, generous kids menu and the cutest little figurines to greet you at the door, Petit Peace Coffee Shokudo is a great family friendly spot to pop on the list.
Shokudo is a Japanese word describing family run casual eateries serving up affordable, hearty and home-style dishes that comfort the soul and fortify the body - Mamma couldn’t think of a better word to describe this hidden gem.
Cosy and homey, Petit Peace is dishing out good vibes, brunch classics with an asian twist and some of the most delicious Japanese lunch sets going around. And did Mamma mention the fantastic kids menu? Served on their own pint sized tray set, little ones are treated to dishes like chicken karaage and chips, Japanese curry with rice and shokupan toast (japanese milk bread) with jam - all of which come with mochi donut balls and takoyaki.
Want to take a little bit of Japan home with you? The cafe’s hallway is decked out with shelves filled with popular Japanese convenience snacks. Their front counter is also packed to the brim with freshly baked pastries, cookies and sandwiches in case you need a little fuel on the go.
This place is super dog friendly as well, so your furry friends are more than welcome - in fact, they even get their own puppy menu with dog friendly food and drink options to boot!
Even better? They’ve just started dinner service Thursday to Saturday, if youre looking for an easy, nourishing meal to make life just that little bit easier towards the end of the week.
