Sorry, this millennial Mamma just couldn’t resist. Beurre (pronounced “brrr” - get it?!) is the new kid on the Maling Road block and it’s as sweet as it is gorgeous.
Passers by will be struck immediately by the pink and red signage and the lettering in the window encouraging you to “eat more cake” - like Mamma needed encouragement in the first place!
Setting foot into this cake shop, Mamma is taken aback by the glorious murals on the wall (handpainted by Zahara - the one lady show behind Beurre - herself), the cute-as-buttons cushions, the beautiful, yellow tiles and the lilac walls. But the decor is only the second most exquisite thing in this cake shop and that is saying something.
Behind the cabinets are drool-worthy petit-fours, decadent pastries, savoury treats and scrumptious tarts. Mamma’s little ones swoon over the morning buns, the pain-au-chocolat and the choc-chip cookies, while Mamma’s eyeing off the beautiful spring onion and whipped cream cheese focaccias for her next visit.
Beurre is also a great spot for a coffee while you mull over your choices in the cabinet. And in addition to the delicious smorgasbord on offer at this sweet-as-pie spot, Beurre also do custom cakes. So next time you’re craving a sweet treat, follow the signs to Beurre and eat more cake.
