greythorn park playground, balwyn north

It has been well over 60 years since this slice of Boroondara was a wildlife park, but the camel has returned! In a nod to the past, Greythorn Park Playground in Balwyn North has been renewed with lots of animal touches, including a huge wooden camel.
The new design is wonderful and has used the huge playground space well with everything spread out nicely. There are plenty of classic playground features. Swings, spinners, slides, climbing pyramids, monkey bars and little flying foxes.
What we love the most - the water pump. This simple system, complete with creek bed, is the exact amount of water we like to handle on a trip to the playground. Mamma’s two love racing leaves and making tunnels and bridges over the trickle of water.
The park has retained its huge shade sails and has plenty of vegetation nearby to provide protection from the sun, but also plenty of open grass too - perfect picnic spot!

Mamma’s special mention: Your closest set of shops (because … coffee) is Greythorn Central. Swing past and grab your supplies before your adventure. Mamma’s pick - Mr Tanuki Cafe.
