reptile encounters, burwood
/Ever wondered what a fat-tailed dunnart looks like up close? Or a Port Jackson shark? Or wanted to get up close and personal with a gorgeous tawny frogmouth?
Reptile Encounters in Burwood offers all this and more to budding zoologists, with private tours operating at their HQ that will delight and engage little ones and their Mammas.
Home to over 500 native Australian animals, Reptile Encounters tours inspire children and adults to take an interest in the natural world and to learn about many unique species of animals that are found nowhere else on earth outside of Australia.
Tours start at the ‘Croc Hotel’, where visitors come face to face with a beautiful Port Jackson shark and are struck by their beautiful, black markings. In this section, little explorers will also meet Penny, the Mary River turtle, and a number of different fish and amphibians.
Then, nature enthusiasts get to peek behind the curtain and take part in a back of house tour. This segment of the tour focuses on the zoo’s family of reptiles. Mamma’s little ones still talk about the array of different frogs and the snake that holds his head in an ‘s’ shape.
Once the kiddos have brushed up on their reptilian facts, it’s time to head outside. This is the highlight for Mamma’s two: getting face to face with native birds. Mamma’s kiddos talk frequently about the beautiful tawny frogmouths and Roman, the glorious red-tailed, black cockatoo. While Mamma still thinks about the magical sugar-glider, Mamma’s all-time favourite marsupial.
A trip to Reptile Encounters is sure to inspire and invigorate any little zoologist. Beyond the private tours, Reptile Encounters also offer school holiday programs, birthday parties, school excursions and corporate event experiences.
So if you’ve got a little one or two who are obsessed with wildlife, be sure to add Reptile Encounters to your list.
