olinda falls, mt dandenong

Waterfall chasing is such a fun family activity. It will take you into all sorts of trails and tracks in search of that cascading water. Olinda Falls is a beautiful spot for doing just that. The hunt for the falls is part of the magic! Located deep within the Dandenong Ranges, you need to follow the track down the hills, down some stairs and down a little bit further before you reach the small viewing platforms. It is narrow in parts and a little slippery after the rain. Take care with little ones and leave the prams in the car. Don’t expect to see a waterfall of great heights (like you will see at Mason’s Falls in Kinglake or Steavensons in Marysville), but the sound of the water is just as mystical.

The walk down is Mamma’s favourite part of the adventure. You are bound to find find some giant trees, bush cubbies and plenty of ferns and funky fungi. If you are lucky and the sunlight dribbles through the canopy overhead, you can feel the magic of the hills around you.

Mamma's special mention: A trip to Olinda must include a pit stop at Olinda Playscape.
