lakewood nature reserve, knoxfield

Any Mamma’s in need of spending some time with the ultimate Mamma - Mother Nature? Head to Lakewood Nature Reserve for a little bit of bushland in the middle of the suburbs. This lake is a hidden gem in Knoxfield, home to many different types of birds, frogs, ducks and even turtles! A perfect place for counting frogs on the Melbourne Water Frog Census app.

You can take a nice stroll around the lake and other walking tracks listening to the sounds of the wildlife, or stop and inspect all things wonderful like my 2.5 year old did.  Our walk is always a nice slow wander whilst exploring the bushland, sticks, rocks, high grass and of course the lake. Mamma’s little one had a ball chasing the birds and wandering through the thick vegetation.

The track is less than 4ks in total and all fairly flat so perfect to push the pram around (and wide enough for two prams so bring your bestie). The are bench seats all around and lots of grassy areas to sit back and relax, if your kids will allow it!

Mamma's special mention: Do the kids need an extra reward after walking with the family? R D Egan Lee Playground is right close nearby.
