grant's picnic ground, sherbrooke

An outdoor adventure does everyone a world of good! An outdoor adventure that is flat, easy to move a pram along AND in the middle of the most majestic bushland is even BETTER. Welcome to Grant’s Picnic Ground. You might of been here as a kid to feed the cockatoos. Although they don’t do this anymore, the bird life in this corner of Sherbrooke Forest is pretty magnificent and the sounds from the trees is just magical.

The closest trail to the carpark - Margaret Lester Forest Walk - is a great adventure for little legs. It is fully sealed and does a gentle loop. For the more adventurous - or simply longer legs - there are lots of trails to explore, including the Lyrebird Walk and Neuman track. You might also just be keen on a picnic spot and there is lots of space to sit and take in nature (or build a bush cubby) along the Coles Ridge Track - the bush road that continues on the south side of the car park.

Mamma’s special mention: Picnics are wonderful at Grant’s Picnic Ground, and even better when they come with hot coffee! Grants on Sherbrooke is part cafe, part information centre and part starting point for all adventures in the forest.
