cascade park, balwyn north

Arrr, me hearties! Hoist the sails and set a course to Cascade Park in Balwyn North, a nautical-themed playground in a leafy pocket of the East.

Set behind a fence to Bulleen Road, this pocket sits in a green valley that feels like a private, peaceful paradise. The playground is split into two main structures, one boat section which replicates such a structure with a hull, mast and steering wheel, and another lookout section, which includes a rock wall, scramble net, monkey bars and wrap-around slide. Each structure features fun nautical elements, including binoculars, flags and a treasure map.

Between the structures is a set of swings, including a bird’s nest swing and a lotus spinner, always a winner.

A concrete path connects the play areas together and is perfect for packing a bike or scooter. The playground also features a natural balance course, the timber beams reflecting the beautiful greenery which envelopes the space.

The space itself is a lush paradise. It is beautifully landscaped, including bushes for little ones to fossick through. The park is surrounded by wide, open, green spaces which are perfect for a game of footy or soccer, making it a great play space for older kids, too.

The park includes bins, fences to the main road, drinking taps and picnic tables, so it’s an ideal spot for a catch up, especially if you’re looking for a quieter alternative to some other local hot spots.

So dock your boat at Cascade Park for a fun day out for the whole family!
