carnegie library playground, carnegie
/Did you know there is the sweetest little book themed play space next to Carnegie Library? Ticked behind the main shopping strip, it may not be HUGE but it sure does pack a punch.
This vibrant pocket playground does away with traditional equipment and has opted for a space for children to engage differently.
Climb the giant glow worm (which lights up at night!) resting in the centre of the space, scale the colourful boulders protruding from the rubber matted flooring or learn sign language from the vibrant display sails that also includes a fantastic book worm mural.
A surprising feature here at an already unique playground is the interactive bookworm structures and computer system that sit to the side of the space. Each bookworm has its own name and button for kids to press which makes a noise. The computer invites kids to type out messages that appear on the digital screen using the keyboard and prompts provided.
The playground is partially undercover with a shade sail overhead with plenty of seating for grownups and Jacaranda trees that put on a show during late spring.
