all aboard - transport themed playgrounds in the east
/ Mamma Erin
Planes, trains and automobiles! Kids seem to love them all and it is a popular choice of playground designers to include all sorts of transportation amongst the fun at your local playground. Here are the ones Mamma has uncovered in the east. TOOT-TOOT!
We present to you - the rainbow playground! You really can’t go past a playspace that has pretty much EVERYTHING.
Marie Wallace Playground in Bayswater is a game-changer of a park. Mamma can hardly believe how many magical spaces there are for little ones. It’s the type of park you can stay at for hours on end!
This playground has been dubbed the 'Green Park' in our house as pretty much all the equipment is, you guessed it, GREEN. The linear playspace has heaps to climb on and test those ninja skills.
You can’t beat a park with a helicopter. Or petrol pump. Or a tram! Lucky for this spot, it’s got all three. Foley Reserve in Kew is one of the most adorable play spaces in the east.
Trains are everywhere! Trains on the tracks. Trains in the sheds. Trains in the park! I have a feeling there is a theme going on at the Elgar Park.
Boroondara Park is full of wheels, tooting and flying. The transport themed playground is a great play space with lots of corners and colours to explore.
If Mamma has some things on the list that make a park great - it’s toilets and shade. If this guy had a list - a CAR would be at the top.
Yarramie Park has a great playground and HEAPS of open space to enjoy a family picnic or get together, or simply a Mamma and me play at the park for a breath of fresh air.
We can’t help ourselves. Whenever we spy a playground with a train, we gotta give it a test run. When it is a playground that is fully enclosed with a GATE then we definitely have to stop for a play.
A playspace that is in perfect condition, that has great easy stairs to climb and is full of train themed equipment, is a total winner in Mamma’s book.
Mamma LOVED this classic community playground before the upgrade, but now it is EVEN BETTER! The Cardinia Community Playground is based on a classic wooden framed play space with heaps of twists and turns and things to climb over.
Has Fireman Sam left his truck on Matisse Drive in Templestowe? Let’s hope he has forgotten it because it makes a great place to play.
Ladies and Gents, start your engines. Pop on a helmet. Ding those bells. GET READY TO RACE! There is a BRAND NEW Grand Prix themed playground and it is just made for riding.
The playground that lies right next door to the Gembrook Railway Station is EXACTLY as you expected. A little train themed park.
J.A.C. Russell Park is the town's main reserve in the middle of town

5 4 3 2....FUN! It's easy to see why this playground is an absolute winner and with a new facelift and a lot of restoration, the Rocket Park is bound to stay in the memories of Boroondara families for years to come.
