Howz-THIS for a great idea for getting the kids outdoors, active and learning new skills? The Woolworths Junior Blasters Cricket Program is in full swing this season and happening in cricket clubs all over Melbourne. This introductory clinic style program is designed for kids 5 - 7 years old and is an ideal way to introduce your youngsters into the game and to their local cricket club community.
The group of kiddos are broken up into small manageable groups throughout the sessions and rotated often to ensure kids get lots of practice time and stay focused. Before long, they will be bowling with windmill arms like a pro, hitting the stumps with gusto and taking great catches.
Mamma loves the fact that although there are plenty of skills to learn, it isn’t just about cricket. There is lots of turn taking, team work and listening skills that the crew will get to practice too. Parents and grandparents are encouraged to help out, supplying encouragement, expert tips and all important crowd control.
When you sign up for the season, you will receive a personalised shirt - with their name and favourite team colours on it - a hat, bat and ball. Good luck deciding which Big Bash team is your favourite!
Mamma's special mention: The next step in the program is Woolworths Master Blasters and this is for the 7 - 10 year olds. These kiddos will build on their basic cricket skills developed in the Junior sessions and put these into practice with some fast pace matches.
