yarra valley zoo cafe, kilsyth

The Yarra Valley Zoo cafe experience is like no other. This recent expansion project from the Yarra Valley Nocturnal Zoo in Mt Evelyn, is bringing the wildlife to you with the added bonus of a projection display.

The cafe tables are set up in front of a wide projector screen where there is a 40 minute loop of entertainment. Think snakes slithering, owls in the tree and the occasional giraffe.. Although we can’t show you the graphics, the stage is pretty immersive as you sit under the trees, in a darkened space giving you great outdoor and outback country vibes. Feels pretty cool when in reality you are sitting in a Kilsyth cafe!

The kids will happily watch while they dig into chippies or nuggets or a tasty meat pie. Once they have finished, head to the fish tank or the enclosure at the front. This one is behind glass and when we first visited there was a snake.

The zoo is a big supporter of individuals on the NDIS program. Many of these participants are learning customer service skills and expanding their employment opportunities whilst serving cafe guests. There is no entry fee, but Mamma will always encourage you to order food to support their mission. There are big plans for this cafe in the future, including a koala experience.
