Chocoholics must stop here! A chocolate factory with a cafe menu that is out of this world. Mamma's kind of heaven! The Yarra Valley Chocolaterie & Ice Cream factory is not a destination if you are counting your calories. You will be greeted by that sweet scent of coco as you walk through the doors and there are rows upon rows of treats before your eyes. Meters of chocolate bars, giant freckles, rocky road and even chocolate beauty products. Ice cream is the same - flavours you would only dream of. And then of course is the cafe! So many options how is a Mamma ever going to choose? A must, however, is the the REAL hot chocolate. You choose your milk and preferred chocolate white, milk or dark - and then stir in that goodie goodness yourself. Have a taste, and if it isn't quite rich enough, add some more chocolate (or just eat it right out of the cup!). The grounds and rolling hills are another treat in themselves as the kids can borrow a bat and ball or a soccer ball to run off all that energy. Mums and Dads can watch them play (and sneak in another coffee) from the deck, whist taking in that magnificent view of the Yarra Valley.
The chocolaterie has welcomed a new arrival on the other side of our favourite city - The Great Ocean Road Chocolaterie - Mamma Knows West headed down to check it out too!
Special note - It’s World Chocolate Day on 7th July. Head into the store to celebrate with a free chocolate on arrival and Gourmet Tastings of over 12 different chocolates.
Mamma's special mention: Don't bypass the township of Yarra Glen on your way home or you will miss the brilliant McKenzie Reserve and the giant dung beetles. For the children 6-12 years, you can sign them up for their own chocolate making experience with the Junior Chocolateire program on selected weekends and during school holidays. Wanna know more? What’s easter without chocolate. This year, the Chocolaterie is all about creating memories and there will be an Easter Photo Wonderland over the Easter Weekend.
