the big watermelon, wantirna south

With interest hikes and the cost of living going constantly on the rise, Mamma must say that The Big Watermelon is a big help on the finances.

All the produce is locally grown and as fresh as it gets, and as both a wholesaler for grocery stores and open to the public, it all but guarantees the turnover is high and you are getting some great stuff. Along side the fruit and veg there are packaged nuts, dried fruit, tinned goods, milk, breads, yoghurt, fruit and veg salads and much more.

Aside from the savings, the variety of fruit and veg here is amazing, Mamma does have trouble with her little ones trying to eat absolutely EVERYTHING before we have even left the market. For even bigger savings Mamma recommends going with a friend and splitting larger buys of fruit and veg (or if you’re like this Mamma your little ones will eat 4000KG of bananas a week and you wont need to).

There is also Bushy Park Cafe onsite, using some of the fresh produce to create delicious juices. There’s also plenty of baguettes, sausage rolls, breakky buns, roti (filled with amazing stuff) and load of sweeties. Mamma’s boys still manage to enjoy their lunch here even after all the fruit they’ve consumed.

Mamma tip is that it does get quite busy here and at times is a bit chaotic, the staff are lovely and helpful, Mamma definitely recommends grabbing a trolley and popping the little ones in there. Keep an eye on their socials for updates on weekly specials.
