Oh my goodness! Mamma cannot find the words to describe how delicious and beautiful the NEW Proserpina Bakehouse is!
Having grown out of their original home in Sassafras, the entire bakehouse has picked up and moved, not too far along Mt Dandenong Tourist Road, into the quiet town of Ferny Creek. The vibes are similar - you will recognise the same paintings on the walls, the books are still dotted around the perimeter of the dining area and the food is still TO DIE FOR! But there is heaps more room indoors and on the outdoor balcony for gathering for a feast.
The menu is still one of Mamma’s favourites. With cabinets of pastries, cakes, tarts and sandwiches made of the freshest of ingredients, you are bound to find something to delight everyone. That said, we do have a hot tip - earlier in the day is best if you want the cream of the crop as the trays of goodies do tend to sell out quickly!
There is no specific kids menu but Mamma and the 5 year old chose a number of yummy options to share, after he finished playing with the felt fruit in the play kitchen of course!
Another beautiful touch that Proserpina always do well is the windows into the kitchen. Being able to watch pastries being rolled out and final touches being put on cakes is always a treat and bound to inspire some young budding chefs.
