Talk about perfect. The Healesville Hotel has had a refresh and Mamma’s favourite addition… the family friendly backyard. Plop yourself down at one of the many outdoor picnic tables under the market umbrellas and the canopy of elm trees and make yourself at home.
The kids will know what to do as soon as they have picked their order from the kids menu (we went the pasta on this visit) - off to explore the cubbies and mud kitchen (mostly sand and tanbark and not so much mud). The sand pit is filled with scooping tools and pots, leading imaginations straight to setting up shops and playing neighbours with the other kids around.
Meanwhile, let the bigger kids (you and me!) sit back and take in the vibes of the beer garden. You can order from the Public Bar menu via the QR codes and the friendly crew will bring it all out to you - handy when keeping your other eye on the kids. The menu has your classics including steaks, parmas, salt and pepper calamari, chicken wings and more. You can go a little fancy and dine indoors in the dining room for lunch Wednesday to Sunday or dinner as well Wednesday to Saturday.
