elka bakery, templestowe lower

Elka’s latest instalment in Templestowe Lower is a treat for anyone who loves a flakey pastry, loaded sanga or fresh loaf of sourdough.

If you’re looking for a spot of lunch, Mamma says you can’t go past one of Elka’s delicious sandwiches - prosciutto, salami, chicken and salad are just some of the fillings on offer. Hot tip: the salami focaccia is next level!

Now, the pastries are where you want to go all out. Undergoing a three day lamination process, these little morsels are a literal labour of love. From pain au chocolat and fruit filled danishes to morning buns and kouign-amanns (pronounced “queen ahmahn”) - it’s what flakey pastry dreams are made of.

With kid-friendly gingerbread men, decadent cream cheese iced cinnamon scrolls and supple cardamom buns also on offer, it’s impossible to make a wrong choice.

Grab a bench seat in their minimalist designed shopfront or get your goods to go and head down to the little playground just a 3 minute walk down Macedon Rd. Either way, be sure to get enough for everyone because you will not want to share.
