cornerstone @ como house & garden, south yarra
/Set on the leafy grounds of the National Trust owned Como House and Gardens is Cornerstone Cafe. Dishing up breakfast, lunch and high teas, Cornerstone gives Parisian cafe culture vibes with a Melbourne twist.
Once the gardener’s shed back when Como House was an inhabited property, the cafe now feels warm, inviting and completely free of garden tools. Grab a table inside by the pastry cabinet and walls filled with art or choose a seat in the undercover outdoor area overlooking the historic outbuildings which now include the ground’s gift shop.
For the little ones, Cornerstone has a small kids menu which includes cheese toasties and chicken and chips but there is also a display cabinet filled with yummy pastries and cakes.
Dine in for a great sit down meal (Mamma says get the scrambled eggs with maple glazed pancetta… drool) or if little legs are itching to roam, opt for a takeaway and explore the beautiful grounds.
Entry to the gardens is completely free but if you are interested in touring Como House itself, guided tours happen a couple of times a day at an additional charge (National Trust members are free).
