ace cafe, prahran

There’s an unassuming little kiosk cafe in Orrong Romanis Reserve that’s slinging delicious pizzas, fantastic brunch dishes and cookies you’ll be thinking about long after you’ve left. The kicker? There’s a fully fenced playground just 10 steps away.

Adjoining the reserve’s tennis centre, Ace Cafe is fast becoming the little community hub for locals, parents and kids from the surrounding schools. From a counter full of lollies to delicious handmade baked goods all made on site - there’s no wonder the kids are drawn here like moths to a flame.

In fact, you’ll find everything on the menu here at Ace Cafe is made onsite which is impressive in itself but once you see how small the kitchen is, you will be even more amazed. From the croissants and pizza dough to pasta and cookies the size of your head - this place does not cut corners.

The chilli scramble and corn fritters are absolute standouts, while the pizzas taste like they’ve come straight out of an authentic Italian pizzeria. But whatever you do, make sure you save room for one of Deb’s homemade cookies.

Besides the cafes unassuming facade and incredible food, the absolute drawcard for families is the location. Sitting on a reserve means that there is ample green space for kids to run around or kick the ball as well as a fully fenced playground absolutely brimming with slides (Mamma counted SIX!).

So whether you choose to find a table in their small outdoor seating area or opt for a takeaway to have in the playground, this is a place you’ll be returning to with the kids time and time again.
