rayners orchard, woori yallock

Teaching children where food comes from is one of the great things we get to do as parents and what better way to see how 450 variety of fruit grows than on the back of a tractor. Rayners Orchard is outstanding. The family run business runs all year round and the tractors bounce along the rows upon rows of fruit trees everyday.

Mamma and the fam had the pleasure of being led around the orchard by the owner Len, stopping along the way to taste and pick bags full of fruit good for eating. Sample the peaches, apricots, plums. Try a tomato and pick at the sunflower seeds too - trust me -you wont need lunch after your ride. The view of the Yarra Valley ain't bad either.

If a tour isn't your cup of tea, the Peach Cafe will certainly serve you up one as well as fruit ice cream, pies, relishes and jams.

Mamma's special mention: Take the learning a little further into the kitchen and book in for a Fruit Bottling Session, were you and the kids get to learn the art of preserving new season fruit.
