rainforest gallery, warburton

The Rainforest Gallery is what you could call a two part adventure.

The first is the super impressive sky walk that will take you all right into the heights of the Yarra Ranges National Park. This slice of the forest is filled with giant Mountain Ash trees and super-dooper old Myrtle Beech trees, and via this platform, you are taken right into their canopies. The walkway is around 40 metres long and lets everyone take in the sights, the sounds and even the smells of being in the bush.

The second part - and Mamma’s favourite bit - is going INTO the rainforest. This does involve plenty of steep, metal stairs (we lost count close to 90, but there wasn’t many complaints from the 8 or 5 year old), and there are hand rails the whole way down so you can take your time.

Then the boardwalk weaves it’s way under the gallery platform, through the ferns and alongside the cascading creek. It isn’t your waterfall type river, but it sure is beautiful.

The trail is 500m all up and would take roughly 20 minutes to go down, around and back up. We have lots of guesses on how tall these magnificent trees could be, plenty of imagining about dinosaurs that would have loved the ferns and we all keep an eye out for cool fungi growing on the trees.

The toilets are back at the top near the carpark and if you are keen for more sights, continue up the mountain and explore the top of Mt Donna Bang.
