mitcham bmx track, mitcham

Mamma has two bike-obsessed boys and their favourite spot to hit the road is Mitcham BMX Pump Track in leafy Heatherdale Reserve.

The space consists of several different tracks suited to varying abilities and ages. Close to Purches Street is a gently sloped pump track, perfect for kids who want to practise on slightly bigger hills. Next to it is a course with steeper inclines, perfect for more advanced riders.

Beyond the first two pump tracks is a smaller track with twists, turns and balance beams for brave riders. In Springtime, this area of the reserve is home to some swooping minors, so Mamma recommends keeping an eye out when visiting at this time of year.

The pump track is a popular spot with older riders after school and on weekends, so for smaller riders, Mamma suggests attending during off-peak hours. You’ll be likely to have the whole place to yourself, ideal for kiddos looking to grow in confidence as riders.

The reserve itself is beautiful, and just beyond the footy oval is a newly-renovated playground, making this a perfect, free outing that will occupy the kids for hours!
