This could the closest you are going to get to the beach in the eastie burbs of Melbourne! Lysterfield Lake is a real treasure. The man made body of water has crystal clear shallows and beautiful views - a total win for families.

The family friendly area is the ‘beach’ where there is a gorgeous bay of water, perfect for dipping a toe or two on a hot day. The water safety levels do change - so be alert to the signage as to current conditions and if it is safe for swimming. The sand is pretty compacted in this zone, making it ideal for beach cricket.

For those stinking hot days, there are heaps of shady spots higher up into the picnic grounds and heaps of tables to choose from. This can be a SUPER popular spot so plan ahead, arrive early and have a great day out.
