halloween @ kincumber drive, croydon
/Usually associated with Christmas, Kincumber Drive in Croydon puts on a pretty mean Halloween display too if you ask Mamma.
You’ll find a little cemetery up front and a hedge filled with ghastly ghouls and baddies to its right. The giant skeleton and inflatable black cat look over the entire space to make sure it’s all treats and no tricks.
There’s a glorious carriage that now sits out front the house’s main window and holds a gargoyle/gremlin and some very surprised skeletons.
There is so much to see here and that’s part of the fun! From zombie torsos and floating ghosts to one shocked Brisbane Lions fan and a lady (who Mamma has decided to name Barbara) walking her little skeleton dogs.
Subject matter aside, this display oozes pure fun and joy. You can tell the owners LOVE what they do and that shows not only in their display but also in the way they interact with people as they come to visit throughout the month. There is a real sense of community spirit here and Mamma loves to see it.
With lights on, raring to go from the beginning of October, things really kick off on the 31st as trick or treaters from far and wide descend on the street to soak in the amazing display and grab a treat from the lolly chute.
Lolly donations are gratefully received prior to Halloween and can be dropped off in the plastic container located near the gate (wrapped lollies only).
And though it shouldn’t need to be said, Mamma would like to remind all families who pay the house a visit to take care and remain respectful of the display as well as all the neighbours (and their driveways) who live close by.
