willo cafe, kew
/You know those cafes that embrace the chaos of motherhood? With staff who bring textas and brown paper bags to your kids to ask them to design their takeaway containers, who don’t flinch when your littlest one upends his babycino, who not only tolerate the mayhem of tiny humans, but encourage it, saying: “it’s just so nice to see them having a wonderful time”? Willo Cafe in Kew is one of those cafes, making it the perfect place for a Mamma catchup.
Willo Cafe goes above and beyond to accommodate Mammas and their little ones, whilst maintaining the experience of a lovely day out at your local coffee shop. Mammas will breathe a sigh of relief spying the box of toys in the corner. Overflowing with books, coloured pencils, card games, you name it, this thoughtfully curated stash will keep Mamma’s little ones occupied while they wait for their highly anticipated toasties.
That’s another highlight of this cafe: the toasties. Is there much better in Melbourne’s bitter winter than a fresh, crisp, hot-from-the-oven toastie? Willo Cafe has an assortment of delicious sangas to satisfy any foodie’s tastebuds. Mamma loves the Willo Club. It is delicious. Beyond the toastie cabinet, Willo’s menu is stacked. Mamma’s also got her eye on the Katsu Chicken Burger. It looks delish!
But the menu’s not just for Mamma. Willo Cafe has one of the most generous and thoughtful kids’ menus that Mamma has seen for a while. From cheese and vegemite toasties (this cafe honestly had me at the cheese and vegemite combo), to soldiers dipped in eggs, to french toast with bacon, this cafe dares to diverge from the path of typical kids’ cafe fare and provides a unique and delicious dining experience for the little ones, too.
While there is ample seating inside, the space might be a little cramped for a pram. However, there is generous seating outdoors with umbrellas and blankets provided, so why not head outside and be warmed by one of their amazing toasties?
Mamma and her little ones love Willo Cafe and cannot wait to return with the fur babies, because, per Willo’s Instagram, doggos, too, are welcomed and encouraged.
