primary @ pioneers park, berwick
/Primary @ Pioneers Park is an old heritage listed school (the third ever built in Berwick infact!) turned into the next best thing - a CAFE! Serving up generous sized seasonal meals and kids menu, the cafe is a popular hot spot with the locals.
Mamma had one of the BEST salads ever here - the slow roasted lamb and ancient grain salad is the stuff of legends - the richness of the lamb paired with chewy tart cranberries, salty feta, nutty grains and a hint of chilli… DROOL.
The kids menu is fantastic too! pancakes, fish and chips, pizza, toasties, pasta and more are on offer for little tummies so there is bound to be something to satisfy any taste - or if you have a three year old like Mamma, settle for a bowl of chips to avoid any tantrums. And do you know what else Mamma loves? This is one of those rare places where you can actually grab a takeaway coffee past 2:30-3pm. HEAVEN.
On beautiful sunny days find a comfy spot on the outdoor decking (all undercover with great shade) overlooking the other great drawcard - the neighbouring playground (which is about to be revamped!). OR grab a spot indoors and share a family brunch before grabbing an owl gingerbread on the way out. Before heading to the playground be sure to take a look in the adjoining National Trust gift shop!

Mamma's special mention: The playground next door - Pioneers Park - gives the cafe super bonus. It’s got a set of swings, a climbing frame and nice blue slide to match - perfect for the older preschoolers.
