shell museum @ bunurong environment centre, inverloch

Shells, shells and more SHELLS. At the South Gippsland Conservation Society and Bunurong Environment Centre, there is an ENTIRE room full of shells! Big shells, little shells, tiny shells and colourful shells. More shells than you could possibly carry in your bucket after a day at the beach. PLUS you’ll find displays of some other local creatures too - squid, sharks, crabs, even giant earthworms!

There are thousands of objects on display under glass but also - thank goodness - a touch table where the kids can bring a giant sea houses to their ears and listen to the sounds of the ocean. The Conservation Society also have an amazingly stocked gift shop and have a wealth of information, including about the Dinosaur Dreaming site in the local area.

Mamma's special mentions:  Want to go shell hunting for yourself? Follow the shoreline to Inverloch Surf Beach OR head to the more sheltered Andersons Inlet and Screw Creek.
