bunurong coastal reserve, bass coast

Mamma never would have guessed that The Great Ocean Road would have a match, but we sure have found its little sister! The Bunurong Coastal Reserve is a STUNNING piece of coastline stretching from Invervoch to Cape Paterson, and beyond to Coal Point at Hamers Haven.
Looking right out to Bass Strait, the water is an impeccable blue and there are miles and miles of dramatic cliffs, reefs, rockpools and raging oceans. The beaches are accessible in some sections, especially around The Caves, where you’ll find (at least at low tide) the site of Dinosaur Dreaming and even - if you are lucky - a prehistoric footprint etched into the rocks. The family will love scrambling over the rocks and looking for treasures in the water.
Further along the Cape Paterson-Inverloch Road, you can stop at the Eagle’s Nest look out - perfect for whale watching if the season is just right. In warmer months, the water welcomes plenty of surfers and families on the beaches. But you can visit at anytime of year - the views are still just amazing.

Mamma's special mentions: For a less intense seaside beach experience, head into Inverloch Main Beach, away from the cliffs. Mamma and the crew love the beach teepees that you will find up and down the shoreline.
