Mamma LOVES a U-Pick so to hear the news there was a new U-Pick in the east we were pretty thrilled, then to hear it is apples, well, we just HAD to get there in a flash!
Sanders Apples have opened the gates to the public for the first time and are letting you grab a bag full of crunchy goodness. The Sanders family have been growing apples in the east for generations, making them experts in helping you pick the right fruit to choose straight off the tree. Entry gets you 2kg of apples and we stocked up on Pink Ladies and Granny Smiths. The trees here produce stacks of fruit - no one is going hungry!
The picking section is only a small part of the orchard and if you are keen on seeing more as well as the views of the Little Yarra Valley, jump on the tractor for a tour (additional fee). The ride is a little bumpy but the best way to see the rows upon rows of trees.
Mamma's special mentions: Apple season is limited from February to May. The U-pick is open for the autumn school holidays, public holidays and weekends until the end of the season at the end of May.
2019 season begins on the weekend of February 16 & 17 with further dates to be announced. Head to the Sanders Apples website for further info.
