Nearly 20 years ago Mamma went on Grade six camp to our nation's capital. I remember the long bus ride, something about a red and green house in a building with a grass roof and swimming at the pool at the AIS. I also remember the most awesome HANDS ON museum with experiments, puzzles and all sorts of discoveries to make. That place is called Questacon. It still exists and is the top of the list for places to visit with kids when in Canberra. But lucky for us, we don't have to travel for 8 hours to see what this science museum has to offer as a little bit is on display at the Yarra Ranges Regional Museum in Lilydale. This travelling exhibit is suited to your primary aged kids and lets us all explore concepts of force and motion, electricity and our senses in all hands on and engaging mini stations. There is free entry to the museum and you have to check out the permanent displays upstairs as well as some AMAZING photographs taken from the Mount Burnett Observatory.
Mamma's special mention: The cafe next door has been recently taken over by new owners and great for grabbing a takeaway before a play at Melba Park!
