Please tell me there is someone out there that remembers plaster fun house?! The room lined up with plaster of Paris moulded teddy bears, fairies, dinosaurs, snails (I still can't explain why a snail was my favourite) and anything a 7 year old could dream of. You choose your mini statue and then go crazy with the paint! Well this adventure is next level! The Robert Gordon warehouse in Pakenham has a 'paint your own' section. Choose a plate, mug, base, teapot or even a teddy bear and paint away! The paints are gentle and super absorbent into the clay creating really cool effects even when your little ones don't have the full concept of painting just yet. The art pieces are then fired making them food safe and dish washable - double thumbs up! You just have to pop back in a week later than pick them up. Mamma is not sure if we could have made anything else more personal AND practical to gift to the grandparents this year!
Mamma's special mention: Robert Gordon makes some of the most divine crockery in Melbourne. The shop is pretty mesmerising on its own and you might score a bargain while you are there as well! There has been a recent update to the store with a resturunat... coming soon...
