burwood skyline drive-in playground, burwood

Let Mamma take you on a little stroll down a memory lane and remind you of the time, in about the 60s and 70s when going to the movies was kinda a big deal. Not the luxury reclining seats but watching the flicks from the comfort of your Silver Celica whilst snuggling up to that total spunk from the the footy club and trying not to be terrified of 'Close Encounters of the Third Kind'. Although the Burwood Skyline Drive In (that apparently saw massive traffic jams with extra bodies hiding in the boot along Burwood Highway on weekends) has long gone, the memory remains on the site with this gorgeous little play spot. It's not a huge playground however you could show the kids you best Danny Zuko and Sandy in the car parked in front on the big screen-slash-climbing wall. At the rear you will find a nice little climbing frame, a slide, a single swing and a wobbly horse. Cute little touch inside the frame too with a spinning projector wheel. Only facilities on site is an undercover bbq and seating area - the original brick ticket box and last standing structure from the drive in! Have a great little play at this one and be sure to remember to unhook your speaker from the window before you head home!

Mamma's special mention: Mamma is a sucker for a theme! Check out some other Eastie parks with some funky fun - Gooligulch in Wonga Park, Bollygum in Kinglake or Zerbes in Doncaster East.
