If you love The Cellar Door, you will love the original - The Public Brewery. This fully operational micro brewery is tucked into the back streets of Croydon's town centre and is where you find all the cool kids after work for Friday night drinks. This relaxed warehouse style set up has the stainless beer making get-up at the front, kitchen and bar (with a rotation of seasonal beers on tap) in the middle, bench seating and enclosed courtyard at the rear. During the cooler months you can sit by the roasting fire or enjoy the sunshine and sit on the grass on the warmer nights.
The menu is great for sharing and digging your fingers in with brisket sliders, brewery fish and chips, southern fried chicken (that packs a REAL punch!) and an old fashioned bowl of chips and sauce. You will find live music here on Sundays and Trivia on Wednesday nights. But Mamma, is this place somewhere to take the kids? Well has far as a brewery goes, it is pretty kid friendly, especially when the weather is nice and sunny with enough space for a run around on the grass PLUS AN AWESOME KIDS MENU! There are kegs out the back too that make a brilliant drum and lots of flowers to sniff. Otherwise - you might want to book it in for date night. The brewery also offer the chance to brew your own beer - sounds like Daddy's birthday present is sorted!
Mamma's special mention: The team behind Public Brewery are also responsible for another Mamma favourite - The Cellar Door. If you want to make it a full day out in Croydon be sure to have a play at X & Y Space in the Town Square.
