Sometimes you meet someone and become instantly inspired. Well Mamma certainly did when she met Jacqui, one half of the amazing Mickey Loves Jacqui team. This husband and wife team produce the most beautifully crafted stationary for weddings and events. You know - the invites you keep! This working mamma knows how to get stuff done and be an amazing role model for little Frankie!
Mickey Loves Jacqui is your business and what a beautiful name for a business! What was your inspiration behind it all? On the day of our wedding, Mickey surprised me with signage and stationery all featuring the line “Mickey Loves Jacqui” that he had designed. So it was easy when it came to choosing a business name. Initially it was all about spending as much time with Mickey as possible. So we started looking into ideas of things we could do together.
What's Exciting you about MLJ at the Moment?
We love weddings, but what is really exciting me is our behind the scenes work we are doing on a new baby & children range of invitations and bedroom prints. This range will be launching on our website soon and I can hardly wait!
What do you do to keep motivated?
Our baby girl Frankie keeps me motivated. It sounds like a cliche´ but its the truth. We work hard for her and for each other.
Any proud moments you would like to share?
Not long after Frankie was born we started expanding the business with new machinery and new print methods. We were sleep deprived as all new parents are, but we kept going, worked really hard and our business got stronger.
Work - Life - Family - Any tips on juggling the family and your own business?
Most days I don’t know that I do a good job of juggling, I just try my best and it’s starting to get easier. When Frankie was very little she only napped for 15 minutes at a time, so it was quite a challenge. But we have got into a rhythm now. That said we often head to work forgetting important things like baby wipes. Anyone who knows me will say that I just roll with the punches. She spends alternate days with my Mum (aka my hero) and I try to be as productive as possible at these times. When she is with me we go to meetings together, site visits and general running around. I am grateful that our business allows me to have my sidekick with me most of the time. The secret is having unconditional love & support from those around me.
How is 2016 looking for you and your business?
We have set some really big goals for 2016, for both business and our family. The year is flying past, but I am determined we are going to reach all of our goals this year.
What one or two words would you use to describe what living in Melbourne’s east means to you?
What is your favourite thing to do the east?
The Warrandyte Strawberry Farm was a favourite spot growing up & I still love a good excuse to drive past for one of their donuts.
